Orange County Community of TBI issues and needs.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is an injury to the head arising from a blunt or penetrating trauma or from acceleration-deceleration forces. This is associated with any of the following signs: decreased level of consciousness, amnesia, other neurologic or neuropsychologic abnormalities, skull fracture, diagnosed intracranial lesions, or death. The purpose of the St. Jude Brain Injury Network is to demonstrate the effectiveness of a coordinated service approach assisting persons with a traumatic brain injury to attain access into gainful employment, appropriate community reintegration programs, and accessible or affordable housing. |

Once past the medical challenges of brain injury, our focus is on the survivor. We help to enhance independent living skills, a return to productive work or school and assist the survivor in resuming as normal a life as possible. Searching for the appropriate community resources can be frustrating, time consuming and confusing. The St. Jude Brain Injury Network is a program designed to address these concerns.
